Alexander Werner, VMD
Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Dermatology
Dr. Werner was raised in the San Fernando Valley, and attended Harvard High School. He received his undergraduate degree from Iowa State University, and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine in 1987.
Following a one-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at California Animal Hospital, Dr. Werner completed the residency program in veterinary dermatology at the University of California, Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Werner passed his boards to become a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology in 1991, and has accepted referral cases in Los Angeles since that time. Dr. Werner sees referral cases in Los Angeles and Westlake Village, California, and in Reno, Nevada.
In addition to giving lectures throughout the United States and in Canada, Dr. Werner has published many articles in peer-reviewed journals. He is the author of numerous book chapters, and has been the editor of the dermatology section in the latest editions of the Blackwell's Five-Minute Veterinary Consult textbook. His latest textbook, the Clinical Companion: Small Animal Dermatology 3rd edition, was published in 2018.
Outside practice, Dr. Werner lives with his husband and their menagerie of adopted (often dermatologically-challenged) animals including Basset Hounds, two horses, Koi fish and birds. Not the expert rider, Dr. Werner does his best to maintain the balance between remaining in the saddle and being fit to examine cases.
Megan Boyd, DVM
Dr. Boyd was raised in California and received her Bachelors of Science degree in chemistry from Cal Poly Pomona. After graduating with honors form Kansas State Veterinary School she completed a rotating internship at VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital. followed by both a dermatology internship and residency at the University of Florida.
Dr. Boyd is thrilled to move back home to Southern California with her fiance, two dogs and two cats.
